This image came to mind when I was watching MadMax Fury Road (again). I’ve always enjoyed the detail of the car’s tires at the beginning of the movie, since it makes sense that in the postapocalyptic future, filling tires with air is probably not going to be an option.
From there I started wondering what other ways cars could move that would allow them to traverse the harsh terrains of the rocky desert, and that’s where I came up with the idea for the junk walkers. Probably not more practical than looking for usable tires and air pumps in the postapocalyse, but definitely fun to paint.
As reference for the different parts, I used a Chevrolet 3800 with a horse trailer for the main walker, a Volkswagen Safari with an excavator for the one on the left and an Impala ’67 with a Volkswagen bus for the one on the right. For the raised home I used a Winnebago and for the motorcycle I used a Triumph Bonneville.
